Which materials can we test for you in our materials testing laboratory?
In principle, we can carry out materials testing for all metals (steel, nickel, aluminium as well as titanium and copper materials) – please contact us individually for your materials to be tested. Or inform yourself here.
Must the specimen or component meet certain requirements?
The specimen to be tested should have the following properties:
- Component height not higher than 350 mm
- Upper and lower sides are plane-parallel, or must be suitable for preparation
- For optimal results: Inclination of both sides is a maximum of approx. 2%
In which load ranges can tests be carried out?
We test in the range from 150kg to 5kg, which means that e.g. thin sheets can also be tested.
Tests with individual load levels can also be carried out on request.

Anyone who previously required information about the quality, condition or suitability of a material for a specific application was faced with the challenge that a hardness test alone did not provide all the important characteristic values and that the conversion table for hardness values and tensile strength according to DIN EN ISO 18265 can only be used with restrictions. A tensile test, which provides detailed information on the material, must be prepared in a complex manner and leads to the destruction of the sample.
In the Imprintec material testing laboratory our specialists work with the innovative and patented indentation method according to DIN SPEC 4864, with which already one measuring point provides the desired mechanical characteristic values (RIp0.2* and RIm*).

The benefit of the laboratory tests with the indentation method lies in the combination of local and meaningful testing of the strength values 0.2% proof stress RIp0.2* and tensile strength RIm*. In many cases we can support you in the development and quality assurance of your components. You can thus create a solution for the testing of your parts where you have not yet been able to take tensile samples or where the missing information on the 0.2% proof stress Rp0.2 and tensile strength Rm for various metals is not covered by hardness conversion.
